it isn't just a 'human beings in space' story What I love about the first episode is that it isn't about John coming to this strange part of the universe and immediately being the center of attention ("Ooooh, a human!!!) - instead, they don't really care about him and his wanting to get back to Earth: They have their own and bigger problems.
And the S1 episode where they get back to Earth, and the humans hear Aeryn et al. speak in alien tongues - it made such a strong impression on me; again, the Otherness of them (from the humans' POV) was so strong and well done!
